Bolivia is known for its famous Salt Flat Tour. We were originally going to do the tour from Uyuni, the next town north but it made more sense to go from Tupiza so we wouldn't have to back track. We are so glad we did! The views were incredible! The first day was a little rough getting up to 15,000 ft! A few of us had altitude sickness in our group, just me and one other lady. So luckily our group fared pretty well considering some other jeeps had everyone get sick! The tour was 4 days, 3 nights and we even had a travelling cook with us! We really enjoyed the trip and really enjoyed our fellow travelers too!
This mountain range was just stunning! So beautiful the pics hardly do it justice!
The cactus have hair! It's really soft too :)
The small (as in short) mud houses are just amazing to see! Here you can see a mud dome oven too. They often have grass on the roofs.
From a distance you can see lots of black patches. It is big piles of llama waste because they pick one spot to use the restroom and only go in that spot. Its pretty smart since their food is pretty small and limited so they don't spoil all the food.
Eh? You looking at me??
Llama love! They are too cute!
Hugs!
I think I'm going to spit on you!
Fuzzy little baby :)
Lunch time!
Getting colder! Snow! It actually rained slush for a while
Similar to the llama but these run free. They are called Vicuna
We did so many river crossings, it was really fun!
Horray! The classic llama shot! We are stoked about this shot!
Inca Ruins
This was taken at 15,000 ft.! It was very chilly here and I was sick/tired looking forward to a bed but we still had 3 more hours to go. We ended up helping another jeep that had broke down so we didn't arrive to the refugio until about 9pm... The cook laid out a spread of cookies and tea so we all thought that was dinner. We were all in the bathroom brushing our teeth when she came in about 10pm saying Cena! We were like, oh no... um ok I guess we will eat. Poor lady cooked the meal and there were only 4 of us out of 10 who were at the table. Everyone else was feeling sick. It was a nice dinner though and then we knew for the next days that tea was first, then dinner!
