Buenos Aires

There is so much to see and do in Buenos Aires it can be overwhelming but we had a great time exploring and meeting the friends in the area. We of course tried the steak they are famous for and went to a tango show! The weather was really hot the first day and then it rained so the following day was perfect!

Yummy Appetizers that came with our most delicious steak dinner!

All that steak for only $7! It was like the best steak we have ever had!

View from hostel balcony

So the official exchange rate in Argentina was $6 to $1 when we arrived. You could change on the street ¨"blue dollar" for $10 pesos per dollar. So while we were in Buenos Aires, the government had its highest devaluation in history. The blue dollar rate was $13 to $1 and the official rate was $8 to $1. It's bad news for those who live in Argentina but good for us travelers. I was always so nervous to see Landon ask someone on the street about their exchange rate and see him be led off into some "store" to get the money. So sketchy but we got almost double pesos to the dollar doing it this way, so it was worth it! Also the newspaper is talking about how hot it was, lucky we were there for that! haha....

Took us a few times to get used to the vosotros form (tu) that they use in Argentina. We are like "vos?" Oh yeah, Argentina likes to throw words in there to keep us on our toes. This sign was so funny, I was like oh I feel great now knowing that Santa Claus believes in me! haha

Funny little rabbit things we saw at a zoo

We rented some bikes and had such a fun fun time in Palermo. They have super nice bike trails and the weather was perfect. We both had a blast!

All the parks here in South America have a workout station with machines. Its a brilliant idea, and so much fun! You see ladies get together to go do their exercise, so fun!

The most interesting quad things we have ever seen, pretty sweet though!

We found Starbucks in BA, pretty much on every block!

Tango show!

Fun desserts!

BA had some of the neatest geocaches! They were contact lens cases with magnets. Some were under benches or stoplights, pretty fun!

Got to learn some tango moves for this geocache!

We met this sweet family from New Hampshire travelling in Argentina. It was a bummer our time didn't overlap so we could have spent time with them! She is a friend of Jeannie so it was so fun to make that connection! Such sweet kids!

We had a wonderful Sunday meeting and even got to do a bit of translating!

This man and his wife are from China but live in Argentina. He took us to his home for lunch after meeting. He founded the Chinatown in BA and it happened to be the Chinese New Year when we were there so he took us and showed us around as well as introduce us to the ambassador of the Taiwanese community. It was pretty neat!

Lizette and her mother, we had a great time with them!

The dragon would run down the streets and then go into a circle, pick a store and go completly inside, its a like a symbol of prosperity for the store if the dragon goes in. It was super fun to watch!

Some yummy street side calamari and chicken!

Landon thought these bathroom doors were so funny! :)

We took the train back to the area we were staying in. We counted 7 modes of transportation in this city! Incredible! Train, Subway, Taxi, Car, Walking, Biking, Motorcycle

Puerto Madero is where you catch the ferry

Oh look, McDonalds, good thing they had that sign or we wouldn't have seen it! haha ;)

Loved the tree filled streets of BA so busy and yet so pretty!

Such fancy subway entrances!

Casa Rosada, where the president works. Kind of like our White House expect she doesn't live there. She gets flown in by helicopter to work there.

There was a big protest going on outside the "Pink House" so it was pretty crowded once we finished our tour.

I just wanted to tickle his little bellly :)

I see us!

 No smiles from these guys

Such a beautiful day!

This little girl was dancing in part of the protest. The crowd was in love with her! So were we, she's adorable!

The benches were made to look like cushions but they are actually pure concrete! Adorable!
