A little of daily life

This is what laundry day looks like around here. If we wait to long, we run out of line to dry :) We actually have a dryer now so we only use the line until the rain comes then we use the dryer. 

 My birthday card from my in-laws! It was super exciting because it was our first letter! This post office is huge, so many post office boxes, its like a maze to find ours! Thanks Herb & Glenda for the little piece from home and remembering me on my birthday!

So I think we spent almost an hour trying to figure out the cuñada and concuñada thing. Basically they have a different name for a sister-in-law who married your spouses sibling and another name for the spouses sibling. It's still kind of confusing but this chart was helpful. Sorry Lane, you became Liz for a second so we could figure out what you would be as a "sister" to Landon. haha funny times! 

Coffee Tree Fertilizing

Today we got to help out with fertilizing the coffee trees. Marlene has 3 farms that needed fertilizing so we went with Wilbur and picked up the fertilizer in the van and then headed out to the farm. It was so beautiful! We helped finish the remaining 2 farms today. It can get pretty heavy carrying that all around! 

Bridges, Lizards, & Birthdays

Hey! Sorry I haven't updated the blog in a while! We have been working on a few online projects so I have been neglecting updating the blog but here is a little of what's been going on. 

Huge iguana and his wife came to watch us eat breakfast while we were in Quepos at Hotel Verde Mar. Quite a thing, and Omar the cook gave us a show by feeding them some lettuce. Really cool! But I did keep my distance :)

A few weeks ago we were in Chilamate leaving on a Monday morning after having a wonderful weekend with Rosmy, Eladio, Don Simion & Dona Beatrize. When we got to the bus station we saw the only route we could take (without waiting almost 2 hours) was one that went on the route Vara Blancas. That was fine with us since we eventually would get to San Jose. This route passes by the La Paz waterfalls which we visited while we were here in April. It's a really pretty place. However, probably 2-3 hours after we passed by the waterfall on the bus, the waterfall flooded and collapsed the bridge! (yes, the one we just passed by on 2-3 hours before) We couldn't believe how lucky we were to not have been on it while it collapsed but also to be past before it collapsed or it would have been a huge delay! It was pretty big news around here! Scary!

Last weekend we were in La Fortuna to spend some time with Marjorie one of our church friends. Her husband works in geothermal electricity near one of the volcanoes. He gave us a small tour of the volcanoes and the area where he works. The water was boiling hot coming out of the ground! Amazing!

Birthday in Playa Tamarindo & Liberia

We had a wonderful weekend exploring some of the Nicoya Peninsula where a lot of the known tourist beaches are. Since it is not tourist season right now, we had the beach to ourselves! And lower prices too! It is a very pretty area! 

We stayed at a hostel that had a super fun hangout area with a nice kitchen & hammocks! We cooked 3 meals there, kinda fun!

Nice warm ocean water! We tried snorkeling out to an island until some jellyfish got in our way and we turned back.

Not very much ocean life here for some reason but we did see a few fish and this cool blue starfish!

Sooner than we would have liked, we had to say good-bye to our dear friend Richard as he heads off to start convention rounds and begin in his new field in Guatemala. Gerald & Angela Schober from Nicaragua (originally Washington) came to visit and he left with them to have a few days at their place. We will miss him! He was such a HUGE help to us as we were planning our trip here and helped get us situated. Cannot thank him enough! It was such a sweet experience to travel with one of God's servants and see the love for the people. It was fun to get to know everyone and hopefully we can remember how to get back to some of the homes for future visits :) We are excited to get to know the new workers who are coming in a month or so. Barbara and Hilda. Efrain will be laboring in Panama with his brother Everardo.
